Many people often wonder about shortness of breath and allergies, and if both the conditions are related to each other somehow. The answer is yes, because there are many allergies that surface in an individual as shortness of breath. In fact, most shortness of breath allergies have this effect on people, and leave them short of breath for many minutes. People who have developed severe allergies to certain substances may suddenly be faced with an onset of this condition, which is very similar to an asthma attack.
Asthma and allergies often go hand in hand, and an asthmatic attack is known to be caused due to some allergic substance in the air. Since asthma is a disease that affects the wind pipes in the body, it is only natural for some harmful external substance (that one is allergic to) to cause some kind of reaction, or attack in a person. This is why allergies and shortness of breath almost always go hand in hand, in addition to other symptoms and causes of shortness of breath.

The most common shortness of breath allergies are caused by dust particles and the like in the atmosphere. This can affect any individual, irrespective of their medical history, as these can enter the nasal passages any time. There is a very real possibility of other harmful particles also entering the system along with the dust, and these can certainly cause shortness of breath and allergies in one and all.
